Day One - On the Ferry!

Our students left the College this morning on time and drama free. Thank you to all the parents who woke up early to put their children on the bus. Everyone was organised and it meant a smooth departure for us.

We paused for a short time at Beechworth where the Year 9s were set loose on the sweet shop and the honey factory. The shopkeepers at both shops were delighted to have us and the kids demonstrated impeccable manners. Brooke showed lightning reflexes in the honey shop, saving a couple of items accidentally knocked over by the shopkeeper, surprising herself and earning the manager's appreciation. A career in juggling beckons.

By the time we reached Seymour, we were getting to know the other members of our group a little better. Riley has an exhaustive knowledge of 1980s music, while Ryan seems to have no musical knowledge at all. Shaun can source funds in the most unlikely of circumstances but has also developed a strange appetite for bird seed. Thomas doesn't eat cold or crunchy food and Grace is paradoxically an avid photographer and intensely camera shy. We look forward to learning more about the personalities of our students over the next few days.

The kids are now exploring the Spirit of Tasmania as we prepare to sail. They have a 9:30 bedtime, with a 5:45am start to morning. We are all in high spirits and looking forward to our arrival in Devonport.

Enjoy the photos below. As you can see, we are off to a good start!
