Wednesday

Today we set off for a day at Port Arthur. After an early breakfast at Blue Lagoon we were on the bus and travelling to out cruise appointment at 9:30AM. The cruise took as all the way from Port Arthur, up the eastern side of the Tasman peninsula to Eaglehawk neck. On the way we viewed some of the most magnificent coastal scenery in the Southern Hemisphere, as well as some wild life such as dolphins and Albatrosses. We returned to Port Arthur for lunch and then undertook a sometimes sober tour and exploration of the convict ruins. Some of the stories from Port Arthur are quite poignant and brought alive some of the tragedy that underpins the existence of modern Australia. After exploring the site we returned to Blue Lagoon for dinner and an early night. We have a big day tomorrow, travelling back to Devonport and our second appointment with Bass Straight. 2 more sleeps till we get back!
